If you try to check out a box which is hooked up to the house antenna dish you will not be able to change to multiswitch or the antenna size. This is confusing because I would use a working box to check the information before I went outside and tried to hook it up. (If you are using a different antenna like I am. You need to hook up the antenna to the box before turning it on otherwise you will not be able to enter the information). Click on menue, go to Parental, Fav & Setup push select button. Go to Setup push select button, Repeat signal strength press dash under the 7 button, dish pointing enter your zip code, in this section then you will be able to input the antenna type 3-lnb (18 X 20) +72.5 or other type ( measure the antenna) and multiswitch. I had the antenna almost right on using line of sight with www.dishpointer.com. Then in setup you go to meter and adjust it to in my case 95% go to continue and update the box it will take a few minutes then it should work. It sure would of been easier if someone would have went step by step. Some of us need a better understanding. We are not all satellite technicians.
Check out the swapmeets and goodwill and garage sales or st Vincent for an extra antenna. I was told by the tech that I could not use a dish network dish so I found a direct tv dish, they look the same except for the head, one is direct tv one wire out and the other is dish 2 wire out. Both dishes work. I used on dish type 3-lnb (18x20) +72.5 and multiswitch it works just fine, Infact I have it pointed at a building within 10 feet of the side of my camper and still get 88% signal. If I go to within 3 feet of the side of my camper it will die. I am using sat 101. Not using HD box just standard box D12-500. Hope this helps and gives you more options on the dish.
